Staffed by media law attorneys from the Boston law firm of Prince, Lobel, Glovsky & Tye, LLP, the Hotline provides NEPA members with a reliable and quick source of expert advice on legal issues in many areas of law affecting newspapers. NEPA members are entitled to use this free service as a benefit of membership.

Attorneys at the NEPA Media Law Hotline are ready to provide your newspaper with pre-publication review of up to four articles of any length per month. In addition, Prince, Lobel, Glovsky & Tye, LLP will provide brief responses to your general questions on such business and First Amendment topics as:

How Does the NEPA Media Law Hotline Work?
1. Simply call the Hotline number: 1-888-428-7490.
2. Also send your query by e-mail to media@plgt.com.
3. A media law attorney will respond, usually on the same day and always within 24 hours. Urgent inquiries will receive priority attention.

The NEPA Media Law Hotline is offered at no cost to NEPA members. Department heads or other authorized employees of any participating NEPA member newspaper may use the NEPA Media Law Hotline.

NEPA members are also entitled to media risks seminars on the law affecting newspapers and their reporters. Prince, Lobel, Glovsky & Tye, LLP media law attorneys offer these seminars to your staff, in your newsroom, for a flat fee. Ask us at the Hotline for more information.

"Rules of the Road"
1. Authorized employees (editors and department heads) of NEPA member newspapers should call the Hotline number (1-888-428-7490) and also send a query by e-mail to media@plgt.com.

2. State clearly that you are calling as a NEPA member and using the NEPA Media Law Hotline. Identify your newspaper and your role at the paper.

3. If leaving a message, state clearly your name, telephone numbers and e-mail address.

4. State clearly any deadlines for responding to your inquiry. Be sure to state if it is an emergency or urgent deadline.

5. Be prepared to discuss the facts relating to your inquiry.

6. A Prince, Lobel, Glovsky & Tye, LLP media law attorney will respond to your inquiry, usually the same day and always within 24 hours. The only exception is that non-emergency requests received on weekends or holidays will be answered promptly during normal office hours, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern time.
